 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Cell Phones for Soldiers!
We've collected 110 phones!  That's more than 110 families who benefit! And 100 hours of long distance that our military overseas can use to call their families here at home!

You can help our military men and women keep in touch with their families.  Donate your old cell phones with battery and charger.  They’re recycled and for every cell phone donated, a 1 hour phone card is sent to a military person so he or she can call home.  The chamber office is a drop off collection point and chamber members Sebastian Realty (601 W. Devon), Ann Witek’s State Farm (701 ½ W. Devon), and MB Financial Bank (1014 Busse Hwy) will also be drop off centers for your used cell phones.  For more information on this very worthwhile program, go to www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com

Park Ridge Chamber Economic Stimulus Program Announced
Just in time for the holiday season!  Commencing on October 22nd, anyone who brings in receipts from Chamber members totalling $500 or more will be entered into a drawing to win $200 in Chamber gift certificates!  The program is open to anyone who shops.  You can show receipts from Chamber member restaurants, grocery stores, spa services, insurance, financial services and more.  And, of course, our preference is that the Chamber gift certificates be spent with our Chamber members.  For a current list of Chamber members, click on "Business Directory" on Chamber website.  The first $100 gift certificate drawing will be held for receipts dated 10/22 thru 11/30/08.  The second drawing will be held for receipts dated 12/1 thru 12/31/08.  Stop by the Chamber to show your receipts and get your ticket.  Good luck and happy shopping in Park Ridge!

Park Ridge Chamber Community Star Award!
Nominations are now being accepted to recognize outstanding members of the Park Ridge Community with our Community Star Award.  Please review the attached letter with specifics about the award and nomination form for more information.  The awards will be presented during the Recognition and Installation Dinner on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Park Ridge Country Club.  Thank you for your nominations; we know there are many deserving individuals within our Park Ridge community.

Chamber Announces the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit!

If your company lies about job descriptions to pay lower insurance premiums or lies about your accident occurring at work, your company has committed fraud.
If you lie about a job-related injury or exaggerate your injury to remain off work, you have committed fraud.

If you are convicted of fraud you can go to jail and be forced to repay up to three times the amount of money you collect on your claim.

If you fail to report alternate income received from other work activities while drawing Temporary Total Disability (TTD), you have committed fraud.

If someone is cheating the system, report it at 877-WCF-UNIT (923-8648).
